The primary responsibility of the Patient Access Intake Coordinator is to provide exceptional customer service while performing all assigned duties, essential and non-essential. Key job functions include but are not limited to: Entering all referral types into EHR (and other systems as required), assigning referrals to Scheduling queues, completing Medicaid/MCO insurance verification, and entering into EHR for referrals entered. A successful Patient Access Intake Coordinator provides exceptional external and internal customer service. In addition to high individual performance, a Patient Access Intake Coordinator is expected to support peers and lead best practices, process improvement, and continuous enhancements of all Patient Access functions. Ongoing collaboration among team members and with the Manager/Director of Patient Access is required to ensure optimal operating effectiveness.

Reports To:
- Manager of Patient Access
- Answer incoming phone calls to Intake line.
- Enter referrals into EHR (and other systems as required).
- Contact families with non-contracted insurance to discuss potential financial liability.
- Assign referrals to Scheduling queues.
- Complete Medicaid/MCO insurance verification for referrals entered.
- Meet documentation and communication standards.
- Enter and maintain accurate information and communication notes in electronic medical record (EHR) and maintain confidentiality with protected health information (PHI).
- Provide excellent customer service, communicating in a positive and effective manner with families, referral partners, physicians, and clinicians, via phone and email.
- Support process improvement for all Patient Access functions.
- Adhere to online presence and communication expectations when working remotely.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Licenses/Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelors degree or technical school preferred.
- Two years of healthcare experience preferred.
- The ability to think critically and make educated and thoughtful decisions with minimal supervision.
- Ability to transform big-picture concepts into concrete operational actions to improve the patient experience, quality of care, and the referral/staffing process.
- Ability to effectively present information to clients, employees, families, and referral partners.
- Ability to identify and work through complex problems.
- The ability to communicate well with clients, family members, and coworkers.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, the public, and supervisors.
- Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
