Clinical Support Specialist (CSS), Administrative 

Position Summary: Our team provides professional, family-centered services to pediatric home health patients and their families in the state of Colorado. As a Clinical Support Specialist (CSS) at Care Options for Kids (COFK), this role provides day-to-day support for clerical/administrative tasks for the Nursing team. This position will perform necessary tasks to support a complete and accurate medical record that is readily available to staff, up to and including transcription services when needed. The CSS will also be responsible for coordination of services, including, but not limited to, contacting physician offices, requesting outstanding documentation, checking, and sending faxes, and other reception-like duties. At COFK, the Clinical Support Specialist is expected to be proficient and efficient with the use of an EMR system and multiple technological platforms to provide the highest quality care to the patients and families we serve. The CSS will be required to collaborate and work closely with the Nursing Team, Patient Access, Patient Financial Services, Health Information Management, Clinical Team, and the Parents/Guardians of patients served. 

Reports To: 

  • Manager of Business Operations, Intermountain West 

Education/Licenses/Certifications: 

  • Current CPR certification 

  • Experience in healthcare, along with EMR work experience 

  • Two years of healthcare experience preferred; one year required 

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency including but not limited to spreadsheets and email

  • Understands therapy notes, physician’s orders and components of a patient’s home healthcare medical record  

  • Ability to work with spreadsheet filters, formulas, sorting, uniform data entry, and other related spreadsheet (Excel) skills.  

  • Ability to perform administrative functions in a remote or office environment. 

  • Must possess strong client management and documentation skills.

  • Contact Physicians to obtain verbal orders for initial visits and ongoing care. 

  • Contacting Physicians with significant changes in patient condition or medication clarification that may be needed for therapy and nursing staff. 

  • Entering and managing orders in EMR systems. 

  • Maintains confidentiality of all agencies and patient related information.  

  • Protects patient rights as defined in the patient Bill of Rights.  

  • Maintains proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the department is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.  

  • Communicates information effectively both verbally and in writing.  

  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, required in-services, agency PI activities and other meetings as requested.  

  • Utilizes material, equipment and time in a safe, beneficial, and cost-effective manner 

  • Organizes workload to complete responsibilities in an appropriate and timely manner.  

  • Performs other duties assigned by the supervisor.  

  • Strives to help lead the industry through vision, technology, innovation, and customer service.

  • Care management and service delivery are developed with the goals of the patient’s healing and support in mind.

Working Conditions: 

  • Professional office setting with collaborative team culture. 

  • Standard working hours (8am – 5pmMST). 

  • Hybrid structure (In office and home) aligned with performance expectations. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to regularly sit, stand, bend, kneel, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.  

  • Ability to perform administrative functions in a remote or office environment.   

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids Used: 

  • Typical office equipment including Microsoft Office Suite and EHR system.
