Lead, Patient Financial Services
Position Summary:

The Lead role is a subject matter expert (SME) responsible for overseeing a specific revenue cycle function or payer group while managing a small team of up to three employees. This role involves training, auditing, and ensuring adherence to best practices while maintaining an 80% caseload of medium to high-complexity accounts
Functional Responsibilities:
  • Authorization Services: verification of insurance benefits, coordination of benefits, and authorization obtainment for on-going services that supports access to care and high collection performance.
  • Billing/Accounts Receivable Services: accurate and timely bill submission, denied claim management and A/R management for all payor types that enables high compliance and timely collection.
  • Cash Services: entry of payment and adjustment transactions into EMR system, reconciliation of transactions against deposits and monitoring of incorrectly paid claims to support efficient payment and accurate accounting for A/R.
  • Revenue Cycle Operations Services: provision of technical and business support to revenue cycle teams that provides integration, scale and controls.
*Responsibilities include associated administrative tasks that relates to core outcomes and support..
Note: All roles include administrative tasks that support core revenue cycle outcomes.

Education, Experience, and Competencies:
  • Min. three (3) years of revenue cycle experience in a patient access, billing or accounts receivable.
  • Minimum of one year experience within a supervisory or lead role is preferred.  Proven experience leading others regardless of people management is required.
  • High school diploma or GED required. Four-year college degree is strongly preferred.
  • Competency with computers and other technology that are utilized to conduct job functions including Microsoft suite, payer portals, and EMR.
  • Experience in training, coaching, or mentoring in a revenue cycle or healthcare billing environment.
  • Ability to analyze revenue cycle data and implement process improvements based on findings. 
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage up to three team members, providing mentorship, training, and performance oversight. 
  • Conduct quality audits to ensure compliance with payer requirements, internal policies, and regulatory standards. 
  • Manage and resolve high-complexity revenue cycle cases while assisting team members with escalation issues. 
  • Develop and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance team efficiency and accuracy. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including billing, collections, compliance, and branch operations, to ensure seamless operations. 
  • Act as a primary liaison between the team and senior leadership, providing insights and performance updates. 
  • Monitor and report on team productivity, identifying areas for development and training. 
  • Treat and communicate with clients, families, co-workers, referral sources and caregivers with courtesy, respect, and consideration.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all clients, caregivers, and business information.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Maintain professional/technical competency and proficiency of job responsibilities by attending and participating in meetings, conferences and education programs as requested.
  • Perform all job responsibilities with a friendly, positive, and team-oriented attitude.
  • Adherence to the company’s telecommuter policy.

  • In-depth expertise in revenue cycle management, payer regulations, and reimbursement policies. 
  • Exceptional communication skills for team collaboration, payor engagement and family interaction.
  • Ability to balance workload between leadership responsibilities and active caseload management. 
Core Revenue Cycle Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
  • Days Sales Outstanding (DSO): Average # of days to receive payment for services. Operational efficiency measure. Company target is < 25 days. 
  • Aged Accounts Receivable (AAR): % of accounts receivable greater than 90-days as compared to total A/R. Company target is <10%.
  • Bad Debt Rate (BDR): $ of bad debt write-offs as compared to average revenue. Company target is <0.50%
  • Collection Rate: % of cash collections as compared to revenue. Company target is > 99% 
  • Cost to Collect: Comparison of costs against revenue as a %. Company target is <1.2%
  • Company Financial Measure: Drive EBITDA growth through effective revenue cycle management strategies. Company target is > 10%.

Salary Range: $24.00 to $28.00/hour
Location: Hybrid/Remote in Denver, CO
